The places we call home, whether we like them or not

It would have been easy for you to leave some of your responses blank, or to just put your answers, but some of you had to take the opportunity to take a shot, didn’t you?

Best Place to Fish drew a couple of “none of your business”-type responses. Friendliest Town drew a “NOT BLACKSBURG,” which we didn’t use to deduct a Blacksburg vote, by the way, but even if we had, it would have still won. There were also a fair share of “none” responses to the Best Place to Do Anything questions.

Apparently, some of you can’t be satisfied.

Friendliest town

Blacksburg blew away Christiansburg and Floyd.

Best festival

In an area with seemingly a festival every week, Steppin’ Out stomped all over Floyd Fest and the Highlander Festival.

 Bisset Park

The Roanoke Times

A walker passes under a large willow tree at Bisset Park.

Best park

Bisset Park in Radford wins the best park, but that Caboose/Hand-in-Hand combination, both in Balcksburg, is right behind.

Biggest waste of taxpayer money

Smart Road

Best (or worst) speed trap

No shortage of ideas for this one, with Interstate 81, the U.S. 460 Bypass and Cambria Street getting the top three responses.

Local hero

Hokie football success lands coach Frank Beamer in the top spot.

Local zero

Wielding guns and too many days in court gets for Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick the bottom spot.
