A kitchen grease fire caused about $30,000 in damage to a Dublin home Monday and injured a resident.

Dublin Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ronald McClure said crews were dispatched about 12:30 p.m. to the 5000 block of Charles Drive.

The grease fire spread quickly to cabinets and other areas in the house, McClure said.

Three firefighters with the Newbern Volunteer Fire Department assisted Dublin's 13 firefighters, and the flames were under control in about 15 minutes, McClure said. Crews remained on the scene until 2:10 p.m.

McClure said a woman was burned and transported to a hospital. He was unsure of the extent of her injuries. She was the only person inside the home at the time because her son had gone to a store, McClure said.

A cat died in the fire, but crews were able to rescue a dog from the basement. McClure said the dog was taken to a veterinarian but seemed to be OK.

Damage to the house was estimated at $30,000, and damage to its contents was also estimated at $30,000.
