Why should voters vote for you to serve on Pulaski Town Council?

H.M. Kidd: Because I want to be the voice of the people, the town of Pulaski and I want to help the people in the town of Pulaski. And I think due to my job that I’m very open and I deal with the people and the public every day. I’m not saying I’m the youngest person on town council maybe, but I would just like to see some changes.

We need jobs, we need some kind of industry and we need things for the kids to do around here. That is really important because right now there is nothing here for them to do. Without those two things, there’s no reason for people to really stay here.

Rhonda Hodge of Pulaski asks: “What will you do to help the economy in Pulaski and bring in more tourism and business?”

HMK: Tourism, that will be a tough one. Pulaski has had a bad name for years and we need to change its perception, and I think if we change the perception of the town of Pulaski then the tourism part will take care of most of itself. Then you know you create industry jobs. ... it doesn’t have to be big industry, you can create multiple small businesses. I think as a councilman, not just working alone, working as a team with council and that’s not what its going to take, I think this is a very attainable goal.

What do you see your role as council member being, asks town resident Jennifer White.

HMK: My role as councilman is working with the public, being in the public and working with council as a team, not as an individual.

Kathy Denny of Pulaski wants to know: How do you plan to work with nonprofits to combat the drug and alcohol problem in the community?

HMK: I’m a strong believer in working close with the police force, with the Pulaski Police Department and the sheriff’s department. Once again, there needs to be a lot of communication between the council and law enforcement.
