Roanoke Valley playwright Dana "Grace" Pannell is using her theatrical talents to raise funds for a community center.
Pannell is staging her gospel comedy "Grace is in the House" to help buy sound and production equipment for the Youth for Truth Development Center in Lynchburg, where she's now creative director.
Center talent will join Pannell and her 1 Above Productions LLC, an independent Roanoke Christian theater troupe in performing and providing technical and production assistance for the 7 p.m. Nov. 16 performance at Jefferson Forest High School (1 Cavalier Circle, Forest).
The center is operated by Youth for Truth Street Ministries, which was organized 15 years ago by youths from several Lynchburg-area churches. They have performed in concerts, recorded CDs and hosted street revivals in addition to offering praise dancing and motivational workshops.
Tree of Life Ministries Undignified Praise from Lynchburg will be the special musical guests for the production. Tickets are $10 until Oct. 31, when they will increase to $20 until the day of the performance. They will be $25 at the door.
For tickets or more information, call 434-401-4289 or 540-492-2367 or visit www.graceisinthehouse.com.
