Recent grads from Roanoke, Blacksburg earn $1,000 scholarships

Jabari Webb, a 2013 William Fleming High School graduate, and Caroline Williams, a 2013 graduate of Blacksburg High School, have received $1,000 scholarships from Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (The Boule).

Webb plans to use his award to major in business or enterprise management at Wake Forest University in the fall. Williams plans to major in music education and performance at Virginia Tech.

Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (The Boule), started in 1904, is the oldest Greek-letter fellowship for predominately African-American men. The local organization, founded in 1983, is known as the Roanoke-Lynchburg, Virginia Beta Phi chapter of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity.

Katherine Preseren of Roanoke and Jessica White of Forest were among the 1,273 May graduates of the University of Mary Washington.

Preseren earned a bachelor's degree in music and also received the Mu Phi Epsilon Sterling Achievement Award in Music.

White graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in computer science and departmental honors in computer science.

Robert Feuerstein of Roanoke has received a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Feuerstein earned his undergraduate degree from James Madison University and did post-baccalaureate work at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is the son of Ann Thornhill and Robert Feuerstein.

Huberman Jeune of Roanoke has earned a master's degree in health administration degree from the University of Scranton.

Claiborne Fletcher of Roanoke earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish with a minor in business from Wofford College.

He is the son of Jeffrey and Cynthia Fletcher.

Two Roanokers recently graduated from Eastern Mennonite University.

Erin Huddleston earned a bachelor's degree in liberal arts and education licensure, and Addison Wilner earned a bachelor's degree in Biblical studies.

William Robison of Roanoke graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Bucknell University. He is the son of Kenneth and Elise Robison and a 2009 graduate of North Cross School.
