The Roanoke County School Board approved a pilot program outsourcing maintenance work at three schools, a system spokesman said.

Ohio-based GCA Services Group will take over the maintenance work at Hidden Valley High, Cave Spring Middle and Cave Spring Elementary schools for one year beginning July 1. School system spokesman Chuck Lionberger said in an email the board approved the measure. It was part of the consent agenda at Tuesday's meeting.

The move is expected to save the system $64,000, and officials have previously said current full-time employees will not lose their jobs. System officials plan to use attrition to trim jobs.
