EDUCATION

Paul Quigley was named the first James I. Robertson Jr. Professor in Civil War Studies by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.

Dr. Aubrey Knight has been named associate dean for student affairs at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Dr. Tracey Criss has been named assistant dean for clinical sciences for the clinical years at the school.

David Dillard, who holds the Virginia Tech Adhesive and Sealant Science Professorship, will receive the 2013 Wake Memorial Medal at the Society for Adhesion and Adhesives' international conference.

Eric Wong, professor of animal and poultry sciences in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech, was recently reappointed as the John W. Hancock Professor of Animal and Poultry Sciences by the board of visitors.

Dr. Corina Sandu, associate professor at Virginia Tech, has received SAE International's Forest R. McFarland Award.

Ryan McCarren has joined Balzer and Associates Inc. as a structural engineer.

FINANCIAL

Member One Federal Credit Union has announced the following promotions: Daniel Bliley, vice president of marketing and member strategy; Tara Lilly Slusser, marketing supervisor; Letitia Nodes, member segmentation analyst; and Amber Bulson, assistant vice president of accounting.

Paul Mistretta has been named president and chief executive officer of Shenandoah Life Insurance Co. and president of its parent company, Prosperity Life Insurance Group LLC.
