FINANCIAL

Desiree Kalafut has joined Valley Bank as assistant branch manager of the Salem branch.

M. Wesley Furrow Jr. has been elected an assistant vice president by Carter Bank and Trust’s board of directors.

Ellis Gutshall, president and CEO of Valley Financial Corp. and Valley Bank, was elected to serve as chairman of the board of directors of Community Bankers’ Bank and CBB Financial Corp.

Valley Bank announced the follow new hires: Martin Williams has joined as assistant vice president and commercial credit underwriter and Ashley McGhee has joined as assistant vice president and controller.

F. Lindsey Stinnett has retired from the board of directors of Bank of Botetourt.

Dexter Glass Jr. and John Stinnett were named business banking relationship managers within the SunTrust Bank commercial division.

LAW

Michael Drzal of LeClairRyan has received the 2013 Ruby Award from the Roanoke-Blacksburg Technology Council.

MEDICAL

John Echternach Sr. recently received a physical therapy award for distinguished service to the Virginia Physical Therapy Association and the profession of physical therapy.

OTHER

Brittany Madonna has been named marketing director for HoneyTree Early Learning Centers.

Roger Dalton, vice president for government affairs for American National University and National College, has been re-elected as an institutional member to the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities board of directors.

Tammy White-Halsey joined Digital Benefit Advisors as a senior consultant in the Roanoke office.

Richfield Retirement Community announced three new positions to lead its Wellness Center: Rob Goralewicz, program manager; Jon Royall, senior director of rehab and wellness services; and Pat Martin, wellness and transition coordinator.

Trust House announced the following staff changes: Ali Hamed-Moore, executive director, will join the Community Leadership Council of the Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness; Sheree Swain has been promoted to the position of case manager; and Katie Huff has become the case management assistant.
