Names and changes

Education

The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors has made the following appointments in the Pamplin College of Business: Robert Brown, professor of accounting and information systems, was named the Curling Professor in Accounting and Information Systems. John Brozovsky, associate professor of accounting and information systems, has been appointed the Wayne E. Leininger Senior Faculty Fellow. Deborah Cook, professor of business information technology, has been named the Verizon Professor in Business Information Technology.

Paul Knox and Theodore Koebel, faculty members in urban affairs and planning in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech, have been recognized by the Urban Affairs Association with the UAA Service Honor Roll Award.

Insurance

Andrew Vipperman has been promoted to vice president and controller of Shenandoah Life Insurance Co.

Law

G. Marshall Mundy and Frank Rogers III of Mundy, Rogers & Associates LLP have been recognized in the Best Lawyers in America publication for 2013 and the 2013 Virginia Super Lawyers.

Frith & Ellerman Law Firm PC announced the following staff recognitions: Dan Frith has been named a super lawyer of medical malpractice by Super Lawyers Magazine and Lauren Ellerman has been added to the Virginia Lawyers Weekly annual list of Influential Women of Virginia.

Anne Hutchins has been named the new chief of staff at the Salem VA Medical Center.

Darlene Passeretti has joined Blue Ridge Copier as an account manager.

Walter Turner, sales associate of Long & Foster Realtors Smith Mountain Lake Halesford Office, has earned the certified residential specialist designation.

Retail

Advance Auto Parts announced the following staff changes: George Sherman has been appointed president; Charles Tyson has been promoted to executive vice president of merchandising, marketing and supply chain; Jim Durkin will assume the new role of senior vice president of commercial business; and Tammy Finley has been promoted to the role of senior vice president of human resources.
