The Peaks of Otter Lodge and Restaurant is offering room deals to local residents and is bringing back its seafood and Thanksgiving buffets.

Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts, which took over management of the lodge this year, reopened the Bedford County facility in July after it closed shortly after Thanksgiving last year. The company will offer 30 percent discounts on room rates for certain nights this month and in November for residents of Bedford County and the Roanoke Valley, including Botetourt County.

The $89 “Neighbor Discount” rate is available Sunday through Thursday from now until Sept. 19. The discount goes into effect again Nov. 3-14. The offer is subject to availability at time of booking and rates don’t include state and local taxes, plus an optional Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation donation.

Reservations may be made by calling 866-387-9905 or online at www.peaksofotter.com. When booking online, the promotional code NEIGHBOR must be used. A valid Virginia driver’s license must also be presented when checking in at the front desk.

The Friday night seafood buffet, which was a dining mainstay under the lodge’s previous managers, will return this Friday evening. The buffet costs $27.95 and includes 1 pound of crab legs, shrimp, hush puppies, Cajun-style fried catfish, frog legs, fried oysters, desserts and more. Children 12 and under eat for $14.95. Each additional pound of crab legs is $7.

The Thanksgiving Day buffet will be available from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. The meal is $27.95 and includes traditional favorites, including a turkey carving table.

“Peaks of Otter Lodge has many loyal guests who have been supportive during the transition process,” Robert Peters, the lodge’s new general manager, said in a news release. “We want to extend our gratitude by bringing back the lodge’s signature seafood and Thanksgiving buffets, and offering a new discount to local residents.”
