Radford is losing the Alejandro's Mexican Grill located inside the Best Western on Tyler Avenue. But a new Alejandro's will open in Salem, in the West Main Street space that formerly housed Burger Bistro and Five Guys Burgers and Fries.

Moses Nucamendi, who owns Alejandro's with his wife, two brothers and chef Eddie Madera, said business at the Radford restaurant was slow, perhaps because the location was "awkward." The Radford restaurant's last day is Aug. 4.

Nucamendi said they're sprucing up the interior of the Salem space, but no major renovations were necessary. If everything goes as planned, they hope to open by Aug. 19, he said. The Salem restaurant will have the same menu as the other Alejandro's locations, along with a salsa bar.

The first Alejandro's opened on Campbell Avenue in downtown Roanoke in 2007. Since then, locations have opened in Hollins, Christiansburg and Radford.
