Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated on Tuesday announced a 36,000-square-foot expansion to its sales and distribution center in the 4000 block of Integrity Drive in Roanoke County.
Alison Patient, a company spokeswoman, said the expansion will improve Coca-Cola’s supply chain by freeing up space at its downtown Roanoke facility.
Patient said about 125 people — most of them from the sales force — will be relocated to the remodeled facility on Integrity Drive. The move is expected to make more efficient the building and shipping of customer orders across the region.
Jill Loope, acting director of economic development for Roanoke County, said the company spent $7 million on the project.
Patient said the expansion will not immediately create new jobs for the region.
“As we continue to expand our business there, we will have to add additional employees,” she said.
