A Henry County food factory this morning announced 100 new job openings and a job fair Saturday for people who wish to apply.

Monogram Food Solutions LLC, a private Memphis, Tenn., maker of snack foods, plans to expand its work force of 425 to more than 500, according to an announcement by the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corp. The starting pay for the new jobs is $8.50 an hour, said Mindy Wilson, a Monogram human resources official.

The job fair is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the plant at 200 Knauss Drive, the announcement said. Information is available by calling The Work Connection, a staffing agency, 276-632-9602.

The plant, which Monogram bought in 2009, makes meat sticks, beef and chicken jerky, pickled sausage, pickled eggs and kippered beef snacks.

  • The management of Norah's Cafe at the Taubman Museum of Art in downtown Roanoke is changing. Friday was its last day under Quest Management. Norah's will be closed for a couple of weeks and should reopen in early July, said Kathryn Garvin, the museum's chief operating officer. The new company has not been publicly identified because contract negotiations are ongoing.
