Kabuto closes after 2 months in Grandin Village
Friday, March 8, 2013
Kabuto, the Japanese restaurant that replaced Norberto's in Roanoke's Grandin Village, has closed almost two months to the day after it opened.
Norberto's Italian Ristorante was open for about 27 years before Norberto Silva sold it to Kevin Jarvis. Jarvis started operating it in November 2011 but said business had slowed considerably by the end of 2012.
Jarvis' wife, Jargal Jarvis, opened Kabuto in the Memorial Avenue location on Jan. 9. At that time, she said she wanted to operate an Asian restaurant in Grandin Village because the area lacked such an eatery.
The owner of the building, Richard Bishop, confirmed Thursday that Kabuto had closed and that the space will be available to a new tenant about the end of the month. He said if it does not rent soon enough, he may consider having some renovations done.
Kevin Jarvis declined to comment when reached through Facebook.
