A 41-year-old Wythe County teacher was charged Friday with sexual involvement with a 13-year-old student.

The Wythe County Sheriff’s Office served three warrants on Susan Patton, a seventh-grade teacher at Scott Memorial Middle School. She is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, carnal knowledge of a 13-year-old, and having oral sex with a 13-year-old boy.

Wytheville Police Chief Harry Ayers said authorities have been investigating the matter since Wednesday, when a parent discovered some notes that raised concerns and called police.

Ayers said the investigation is continuing.
