A robber who used a note demanding money robbed the SunTrust Bank in South Roanoke today and escaped in a car, police said.

The bearded robber, wearing a long-sleeved fleece shirt, knit cap, sunglasses and cargo pants, walked into the branch on McClannahan Street just before 9:30 a.m. and handed the teller a note, said police.

The teller gave him an amount of cash the police wouldn't disclose and the robber fled in a white Pontiac, police said.

No one was injured.

Police described the suspect as a white male about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build.
