VMI student dies after training event
A Virginia Military Institute freshman died
Saturday after collapsing following a training event, a release from the school
said.

Evans, a 19-year-old 4th Class cadet, of Highland, Md., collapsed in his
barracks room after completing a 10-mile road march with other members of the
Rat Class. He was pronounced dead shortly after noon Saturday at Carilion
Stonewall Jackson Hospital.
Evans was an
International Studies major at VMI and part of the Marine ROTC program.
His cause of
death has not yet been determined.
