Police: Roanoke man dies trying to hop train in Manassas
A Roanoke man who
apparently tried to hop a moving train in Manassas died when he was run over,
police said.
The body of Bradley
Schmidt, 20, was found along the train tracks Sunday about 11 a.m., said Sgt.
Tim Neumann, a spokesman for the Manassas Police Department.
Schmidt's friends
told police that they'd hopped a train Saturday in Roanoke to go to a party in
Manassas, Neumann said.
Schmidt left the
party alone just before midnight and apparently tried to hop a Norfolk Southern
train to get back home, Neumann said.
His body has been
taken to the medical examiner's office in Manassas for an autopsy.
