Construction to begin this fall on veterans' cemetery
Crews are scheduled to begin building the first veterans cemetery in Southwest Virginia this fall.
The federal government will provide construction funding of $7.2 million for the first phase, which will measure 24 acres, U.S. Rep. Rick Boucher said today.
Burial in the facility, near Dublin, will be offered free to Virginia residents who belong to the U.S. Armed Forces and die during active duty, retire from service or are honorably discharged. Burial will be offered for a "small fee" to spouses and dependent children of such individuals, a press release said.
