Sheriff's department identifies two men charged in shooting
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department released the names of two men arrested in connection with a Saturday afternoon shooting near a popular tubing spot on the New River.
Richard Gene Hedge, 32, of Pulaski is charged with malicious wounding and Dexter Leon Gravely, 51, of Riner is charged with accessory to a felony, according to a news release from Sheriff Tommy Whitt.
The shooting happened about 4:30 p.m. in the McCoy area of Montgomery County near the Giles County line. According to Whitt, Brian Lee Blevins, 32, of Pulaski was shot once in the arm. He was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies arrested one suspect at the scene. A search was initiated and the second man was taken into custody on nearby Norris Run Road. Several other local and state law enforcement agencies provide assistance.
Per the release Hedge is being held without bond in Montgomery County Jail and Gravely is being held on $15,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
