Authorities investigate Collinsville shooting
Authorities are investigating the shooting of a man's hand that happened after an argument in a Collinsville restaurant early Saturday.
Jermell Hairston of Martinsville was struck with a bullet on his right hand and taken to Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County, according to a news release from the Henry County Sheriff's Office. His injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said
An argument started at the Quality Inn-Dutch Inn on U.S. 220 shortly before 1:40 a.m. and spilled into the parking lot, where Hairston was shot, the news release said.
There was a large crowd in the parking lot, the news release said, and investigators recovered several calibers of ammunition. Two vehicles were struck by the gunfire.
"Without forensic analysis, it is not known exactly how many people were shooting," the news release said.
Anyone with information related to the incident is being asked to call the sheriff's office at 276-638-8751 or Crime Stoppers at 276-632-7463.
