A woman from Floyd died in a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning, police said.

Ashley Renee Chaffin, 23, was not wearing a seat belt shortly after 10 a.m. when the 2004 Pontiac Sunfire she was driving went off a Floyd County road and flipped several times, said Sgt. Rob Carpentieri, of the Virginia State Police.

Chaffin was driving northbound on Virginia 653 just north of Virginia 660 when the car went off the road, Carpentieri said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the wreck was under investigation Sunday.
