No one seriously injured after car crashes into Southwest Roanoke County store
Eric Brady | The Roanoke Times
A 81-year-old woman was charged with reckless driving after crashing her car into Jaclyn's Hallmark in Roanoke County.
The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was trying to park in front of a store in Cave Spring Corners just before 1 p.m. when she drove her car up onto the sidewalk, over bushes, and hit a concrete bench, said officer W.D. Campbell. The car then hit two other parked cars before turning and going through the glass windows of Jaclyn's Hallmark store.
The woman was charged with reckless driving, Campbell said. He was not sure what caused the woman to lose control of the vehicle.
Pam Fielder, the store manager, said she was in the back of the shop when she heard a thump from outside. As she walked to the front of the store, she saw the car crashing into the store.
The store is littered with glass and broken trinkets, and will be closed until the damage can be repaired, store owner Scott Bailey said.
