School bus damaged in Bedford County wreck
A school bus, which was not carrying students, was damaged Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision in Bedford County, according to Virginia State Police.
Trooper Jamie Mullins said the wreck happened just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 221 (Forest Road) and Virginia 668.
Mullins said a 2001 Jeep Cherokee was northbound on Forest Road when it failed to stop and rear-ended the bus, which was waiting to turn left.
The driver of the Jeep, Christopher Lantrip, 22, of Goode, was charged with following too closely, Mullins said. He said he believed the Jeep was totaled and Lantrip and a passenger were taken to Bedford Memorial Hospital, but their conditions were not available Friday
The driver of the school bus was not injured, Mullins said. The bus was from James River Day School in Lynchburg.
On Wednesday a Bedford County man died in a similar accident that occurred in the same area.
