Police investigate afternoon bank robbery in Northwest Roanoke
Police are looking for a man who robbed a North Roanoke bank Wednesday afternoon.
According to police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson, the incident occurred about 4:35 p.m. at the First Citizens branch in the 1900 block of Valley View Boulevard.
Johnson said a man entered the bank and demanded money, but that he did not brandish a weapon and no one was hurt. He fled with an unspecified amount of cash.
The suspect is described by police as a white male in his late 20s with long brown hair, possibly styled in dreadlocks. He was seen wearing a St. Louis baseball cap, a red coat, grey shirt and blue jeans.
It was unclear how he fled the scene, and Johnson said it was possible he got on a bus.
"They're checking all different types of ways that he might have fled the area," she said. "Valley Metro buses are one of the things they check."
