Seized dogs soon can be adopted

A representative of the Angels of Assisi shelter in Roanoke said today the 63 dogs seized from a Carroll County shelter last fall soon will be available for adoption.

Last month Del. Terry Kilgore, R-Scott County, the attorney representing the owner of the kennel, David Winesett, said Winesett wanted to get out of the dog breeding business and to sell the dogs to Angels of Assisi.

The Yorkshire terriers, dachshunds, poodles, Boston terriers and schnauzers have been at the Roanoke shelter since the mid-November seizure. Many have received medical and dental care.

Lisa O’Neill, the shelter’s volunteer coordinator, declined to disclose the terms of the deal between Winesett and the shelter.
