A Bedford County woman is in custody, charged with murder in the death of her boyfriend.

Tammy Spencer, 48, is being held without bond at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail on charges of first-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, according to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responding to a 911 call from Spencer around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday arrived at her house on Forestland Drive in Vinton and found Charles E. Pagans, 47. He was lying on the sofa, dead of a gun shot, the sheriff's office said.

Spencer and Pagans, who were boyfriend and girlfriend, were the only occupants of the house at the time of the incident, the sheriff’s office said.
