Flooding closes roads in Franklin, Giles and Pulaski counties
Several roads in Southwest Virginia are closed today due to flooding, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
In Franklin County, three routes remained closed Wednesday in Rocky Mount, including Virginia 709S (Blue Bend Road); Virginia 756E (Old Forge Road); and Virginia 759N (Rufus Road). A fourth Franklin County route, Virginia 807S (Mary Bett Hollow Road) in Ferrum, was closed during the day but by Wednesday evening had been removed from VDOT's list of closures.
VDOT said Virginia 643S (Alum Spring Road) and Virginia 602E, in Pulaski County, were also closed earlier today as was Virginia 703 in Giles County.
It's unclear when the roads are expected to reopen but drivers are advised to use caution and seek alternate routes.
