Bedford authorities announce drug arrests
Bedford County authorities this afternoon announced drug distribution charges against 15 people.
Four of the defendants are charged with distributing cocaine, marijuana or both near a school. The others are charges with distributing cocaine, marijuana and heroin.
“These were guys making a pretty good living selling drugs in Bedford County,” Sheriff Mike Brown said.
All but one of the people charged are in custody. Authorities are still looking for Lawrence Barlow, who is from the Roanoke area but could be in the Delaware area by now, according to Capt. Mike Miller.
The arrests were made in Boonsboro, Big Island, Moneta, Stewartsville, New London, Forest and Bedford.
In an unrelated case, the sheriff’s office also announced charges of selling animals for fighting purposes against another defendant, who is accused of selling two roosters to undercover officers in November and December.
Authorities also seized about 40 roosters, plus fighting spurs and betting slips.
