Shorewood Packaging, an International Paper business, notified employees Wednesday of its plans to close its facility in Northeast Roanoke, according to a notice filed with Virginia officials.

The company said 45 workers will lose their jobs. The closing will occur Jan. 16.

International Paper bought Shorewood in 2000 and it became part of International’s consumer packaging group. Shorewood’s corporate office is based in New York City.
