Wreck blocks part of southbound I-81 in Botetourt Co.
Part of southbound Interstate 81 is blocked in Botetourt County following a tractor-trailer crash early this morning.
The wreck occurred sometime around 6 a.m. near mile marker 169.1, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Spokeswoman Heidi Coy earlier delays were due to offloading the truck's cargo – packages of frozen food – and the road has been blocked again this afternoon to allow for the removal of the wrecked truck.
VDOT's Web site says the right lane and right shoulder are closed and traffic is backed up for about five miles.
Drivers are advised to use caution and expect delays.
