Roanoke County police have identified the man who was killed Tuesday when a train hit the dump truck he was driving.
 
Bruce Carroll Eller, 55, of Roanoke, died at the scene of the crash just off Garman Road in the Glenvar area of the county, said Officer Billy Smith.
 
Eller was following another truck across the private railroad crossing about 1:15 p.m. when his truck was hit. He was ejected from the truck, which caught fire.
 
Robin Chapman, a spokesman for Norfolk Southern Corp., said the train was blowing its horn when the first truck crossed the tracks.
 
There are no gates or signals at the crossing.
