Woman killed in S.W. Roanoke County crash
A woman was killed in a head-on crash in southwest Roanoke County late Tuesday, police said.
Judith H. Scearce did not survive a crash one block from Starkey Road in the 5400 block of Hunting Hills Drive at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, Roanoke County police said.
The wreck happened when James Rogers lost control of a beige Ford Explorer he was driving north on Hunting Hills Drive, police said in a statement this morning.
The Ford Explorer crossed the median lane into oncoming traffic and crashed into the white four-door Lexus that Scearce was driving, police said.
Rogers and two passengers were taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Scearce was wearing a seatbelt. Police were investigating the accident this morning, although it was clear that alcohol or drugs were not involved.
No one has been charged this morning.
