Remains found after house fire identified
The medical examiner's office has identified the remains found in a Roanoke County
house destroyed by fire as those of Jack Gordon Burdette, county police said in
a news release.
The cause and manner
of Burdette's death are still being investigated, the medical examiner's office
said today.
Burdette's home in
the 1600 block of Wildwood Road caught fire Tuesday night. By the time
firefighters were alerted and arrived the house was engulfed in flames and
collapsing.
Burdette's remains
were found Wednesday morning as investigators dug through the rubble of the
charred house. He was 58 and lived alone.
The Roanoke County Fire and
Rescue Department is still investigating the fire.
