Crews hit gas line near Roanoke Civic Center; roads reopened
Construction crews working at the new McDonald’s on Williamson Road hit a gas line Wednesday afternoon, prompting fire crews to block off much of the area around the Roanoke Civic Center.
The gas was shut off shortly before 3 p.m.
Officials had closed Williamson Road in both directions from Wells Avenue to Orange Avenue, as well as parts of Rutherford Avenue. All roads have now been reopened.
