Salem police have hit-and-run suspect in custody
Salem police have confirmed that a man wanted in connection with a hit-and-run death is in custody.
Lt. R.D. Clark said that Shaun Wallace Scott, 26, has been apprehended but would not elaborate.
Police had been looking for Scott, of Roanoke, after he was involved in an altercation at Awful Arthur’s Seafood Company on West Main Street in Salem early Saturday morning.
Police charged Scott with eight felony counts, including one for first-degree murder, two for attempted malicious wounding and four for felony hit-and-run.
Scott is charged with hitting Zane Andrew Blankenship, 23, of Salem, shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Awful Arthur’s with a dark green 1993 Jeep. Blankenship was later pronounced dead at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, police said.
