Separate wrecks slow I-64 and U.S. 220 traffic
Two wrecks involving tractor trailers that clogged traffic on U.S. 220 in Henry County, and Interstate 64 in Alleghany County have been cleared.
A crash about 12 miles north of Martinsville and 18 miles south of Rocky mount on U.S. 220 closed the south left and right lanes of the highway, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The lane closures were reported near the intersection of U.S. 220 and Oak Level Road as late as 7:20 a.m.
Meanwhile, A wreck about midway between Covington and Clifton Forge, at mile marker 21, had the east right lane and shoulder of I-64 closed, VDOT said. The lane closures were last reported at about 7:55 a.m.
