Roanoke authorities search for missing 10-year-old girl

Molicia Julia Tumaline

Authorities are looking for a 10-year-old girl who was last seen Monday afternoon heading to a playground in northwest Roanoke.

Molicia Julia Tumaline is a 5-foot-2-inch, roughly 140-pound black girl, according to Roanoke police. Family members said Tuesday afternoon they last saw her at about 6:30 p.m. Monday when she was watching television in the living room of their apartment on the 2500 block of Marr Street.

In a statement early Tuesday Roanoke police said Molicia had gone outside to play in a park. Later, spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said police were told the family suspected Molicia had gone to the playground because that’s where she usually went outside of the apartment.

Lucart Tumaline, Molicia's father, said that the girl was last seen wearing a light green shirt and jeans and that her brown hair was pinned back.

By Tuesday afternoon, police had not found her at the Park Towne Apartments between Valley View Mall and Hershberger Road, where she lives.

Anyone with information regarding Tumaline's whereabouts is being asked to call 911.

This posting includes updated information from the Roanoke police department, which had incorrectly reported the day Tumaline was last seen.
