Stray bullet from Tuesday shooting causes home to flood
Jared Soares | The Roanoke Times
Sybil Philpott sits by the window of her home on Moorman Street where a stray bullet passed through her home in Northwest Roanoke. The bullet entered the home and damaged a pipe that caused flooding. Philpott's son reported seeing the vehicle that stopped to shoot at their home.
Sybil Philpott's house in the 2000 block of Moorman Avenue Northwest was hit twice Tuesday night.
One of the bullets blasted through a window, a closet door, and hit the water pipe. A police officer who investigated the shooting was able to shut off the water to the house, but not before it had soaked the carpet and made its way into the air ducts.
No one has been charged in the shooting, but police are still investigating.
