Botetourt Supervisors rescind denial of Walgreens

A $4 million proposal to build a Walgreens drugstore at the corner of U.S. 220 and Catawba Road in Botetourt County is alive again.
The county Board of Supervisors, which took a 3-2 vote to deny the plan last month, decided this morning to rescind that vote after Supervisor Steve Clinton asked the board to reconsider.
Clinton was one of the trio of supervisors who voted against the project in June, with the main sticking point being traffic congestion at and around the planned drugstore site in Daleville.
This morning, the board voted 5-0 to throw out last month's vote, after Clinton pushed the reconsideration, saying he believed there was potential to work out a compromise. Following the supervisors vote this morning, the project development company then withdrew its application. The develper now has to wait three months, according to the county code, to refile what's likely to be an amended application.
