ApCo requests 12-percent electric rate increase

Could take effect as early as Sept. 1.

The request is the third increase proposed in as many months. All three proposals are pending with the Virginia State Corporation Commission.
In the latest proposal, the utility on Friday petititioned the SCC to raise a typical monthly bill of $71.48 to $79.85, or 11.7 percent, on Sept. 1.
