Wreck blocks northbound I-81 in Wythe Co.
A wreck in Wythe County has closed all northbound lanes of Interstate 81 early this afternoon, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The incident occurred just north of Rural Retreat, near mile marker 62, VDOT said.
Meanwhile, two wrecks that snarled traffic on I-81 near Christiansburg and Salem were cleared late this morning.
One crash had clogged the northbound lanes of the highway about seven miles north of Christiansburg, near mile marker 125, before 10:45 a.m. Traffic was backed up at least four miles.
Another wreck near Salem, around mile marker 140, caused traffic to back up on the southbound lanes of I-81. It occurred before 10 a.m., congesting traffic for at least three miles, and has been cleared.
