Power outages remain this morning

Residents in Roanoke City and Roanoke County continue to be the most affected by power outages that began Sunday, according to Appalachian Power Co.

As of 9:30 a.m., 5,041, or 10 percent of the total 50,311 customers in Roanoke, were without power. In Roanoke County, 2,854 customers, or 6.5 percent of the total 43,755 customers, were without power.

Those numbers are significantly reduced from Tuesday morning when 24 percent of customers in Roanoke and 14 percent of customers in Roanoke County were without power.

Other counties that are still affected by power outages include Montgomery, Botetourt and Franklin, according to Appalachian Power Co.

Approximately 10,250, or 2 percent of the total 521,935 Appalachian customers in Virginia, are without power this morning. In comparison, 5 percent of such customers were without power Tuesday morning.
