The city of Roanoke will be opening a shelter at the Roanoke Civic Center exhibit hall at 7:30 tonight for those who are without power because of the high winds that have downed electrical lines across the region. Officials remind residents seeking shelter to bring any medications and other essential items only. No pets are allowed.
