Police are still searching for the vehicle that struck and killed a runner early Monday morning in a southwest Roanoke County neighborhood.

Thomas Farrell, a 49-year-old lawyer, was killed while running along Springlawn Avenue near Cave Spring Elementary School. Police do not suspect foul play in the accident.

“There are obviously a lot of things that have yet to be answered, and somebody has the answers; it’s just a matter of us finding them,” said Sgt. Tim Wyatt of the Roanoke County Police Department. “We hope their conscience will get the better of them.”

The medical examiner’s office ruled Farrell’s death a result of blunt force impact injuries to the head.

Crews were called to Springlawn Avenue at about 5:45 a.m. Monday after a neighborhood resident found the body.
