The state's new hybrid vehicle fee might get kicked to the curb.
The newly appointed chairman of the House Transportation Committee, Del. Tom Rust, R-Fairfax County, said Wednesday that he'll seek to repeal the $64-a-year hybrid vehicle tax included in this year's transportation funding package.
He's the latest to express support for eliminating the fee. Del. Scott Surovell, D-Fairfax County, and Sen. Adam Ebbin, D-Alexandria, who have strongly opposed the fee since it was proposed, said they both already have drafted legislation to get rid of the tax.
House Republican Caucus Chairman Timothy Hugo of Fairfax County said Wednesday that he will co-sponsor Rust's bill.
The 2014 General Assembly session begins in January.
