Salem police have identified the victims in Saturday’s fatal motorcycle crash on Wildwood Road.
The motorcycle driver, Barry Wayne Capps, 66, from Whitsett, N.C., died as a result of the wreck and his wife, Shelby Amick Capps, 66, was injured.
About 4:30 p.m. Saturday, the Salem Police Department responded to a crash on Wildwood Road (Virginia 112) near the intersection with Horner Lane. The wreck involved the motorcycle and a 2006 Dodge Charger that was driven by Linda Ann McPherson, 66, of New Castle. Both vehicles were headed south on Wildwood Road at the time of the wreck.
The couple on the motorcycle and McPherson were all taken to local hospitals, where Barry Wayne Capps later died from his injuries.
Salem spokesman Mike Stevens said there were no updates on the conditions of those who were injured.
No charges have been filed at this time and the wreck is still under investigation.
