Traffic backs up on Interstate 81 in Botetourt County after tractor trailer flips 

Traffic was stalled on Interstate 81 on Thursday in Botetourt County as a result of a tractor trailer that overturned.

Starting at mile marker 167.7 of I-81, drivers in the northbound lanes saw major delays, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. Traffic was routed around the accident on the right shoulder.

Virginia State police responded to the accident a few minutes after 6 p.m., according to VDOT. As of 7:45 p.m. Thursday, accident responders were estimating it would take six to eight more hours to clean up the scene. Traffic on I-81 north was expected to stay routed on the right shoulder though the night.
