Driver, cyclist collide in northeast Roanoke

A car at the intersection of Cannaday Road and Mecca Street in northeast Roanoke collided with a person riding a bicycle Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Roanoke police reponded to the wreck around 3 p.m. Captain Monti Lee said the bicyclist hit the windshield of the car and later was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with head and leg injuries. The driver was not injured, he said.

Police are still investigating what happened and there are no charges filed at this time.
