A month after a Roanoke man was found shot to death in his Grandin Road home, police are searching his business partner's financial records.
Search warrants filed in Roanoke Circuit Court this week said police are seeking to examine the records as they investigate the homicide of Jeffrey Darnell Mayo, 44, who was found dead July 3.
The warrants, which seek documents from two financial institutions, said the man and Mayo were "joint business partners in several real estate properties and financial institutes."
The search warrant looking for records from a credit information company said police are seeking information about the business partner's account, including its credit limit and any bankruptcies or judgments.
Any account opened in the names of Mayo or the business partner are to be included in the investigation, the warrants said.
Mayo died of multiple gunshot wounds, police said at the time, and was found by officers after a person checking on Mayo saw that the door to his home in the 2600 block of Grandin Road Southwest was ajar. An earlier warrant filed in Roanoke Circuit Court said Mayo's body was found blocking the front door.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and declined to comment further. No one has been charged in the case.
